Deftones
Deftones are an American alternative metal band formed in Sacramento, California, in 1988, with the core trio of Chino Moreno, Stephen Carpenter and Abe Cunningham in place by the early 1990s. Though initially grouped with nu metal, the band has drawn on shoegaze, dream pop and post-metal, with Moreno citing influences from hardcore punk to Depeche Mode.

White Pony (2000) won a Grammy Award, the self-titled album that followed in 2003 debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, and the track "Elite" later won Best Metal Performance.
