About Gaerea

The band released a self-titled EP in 2016, followed by its debut full-length album, Unsettling Whispers, in 2018. Signing to Season of Mist, Gaerea released Limbo in 2020 and Mirage in 2022, the latter addressing the emotional aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its style combines black metal's intensity with elements of hardcore and sludge metal, producing a denser sound than much of the genre alongside an emphasis on anguish and catharsis.

On its fifth album, Coma (2024), the band expanded its sound further, incorporating clean vocals and more melodic, post-rock-influenced passages alongside its harsher material. The album drew a large streaming response on release and was followed by a 2025 European headline tour.

Gaerea continues to perform live internationally while maintaining its anonymity as a core element of the band's identity.
