New Jersey Devils
The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey, competing in the Metropolitan Division of the National Hockey League. The franchise originated as the Kansas City Scouts in 1974, moved to Denver as the Colorado Rockies in 1976, and relocated to New Jersey in 1982, taking its name from the folkloric Jersey Devil of local legend.

About New Jersey Devils
The Devils have won three Stanley Cup championships: in 1995, sweeping Detroit as forward Claude Lemieux won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP; in 2000, defeating Dallas as defenseman Scott Stevens won the Conn Smythe; and in 2003, defeating Anaheim in seven games. Goaltender Martin Brodeur, who played for the club from 1991 to 2014 and holds NHL career records for wins and shutouts, won all three championships with the team.
President and general manager Lou Lamoriello built the franchise into a perennial contender beginning in 1987, guiding the Devils to the playoffs in all but three seasons between 1988 and 2012, including thirteen consecutive postseason berths from 1997 to 2010. During their 2000 championship run, the Devils came back from a 3-1 series deficit against Philadelphia in the conference final, the first such comeback in NHL conference-final history.
Now owned by Josh Harris and David Blitzer, the Devils endured a lengthy playoff drought from 2015 to 2021 before a resurgence highlighted by a franchise-record 112-point season in 2022-23, and the team remains a competitive fixture in the Metropolitan Division.
