About Rolling Quartz
The band performs guitar-driven rock and grunge, a departure from the pop-oriented sound that dominates much of the South Korean music industry, with each member playing her own instrument on record and on stage. The lineup consists of vocalist Jayoung, guitarists Iree and Hyunjung, bassist Arem, and drummer Yeongeun.
Rolling Quartz spent its first year performing in clubs in Seoul's Hongdae indie music district before releasing its debut EP, Fighting, in February 2022. The EP reached the top five on the US iTunes rock albums chart, making Rolling Quartz the first Korean indie band to chart there.
The band has continued releasing music through the mid-2020s, including the EPs Victory (2024) and Roll the Dice (2026), while maintaining a stated goal of establishing rock as a mainstream genre within South Korea's pop-dominated music scene.
