Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore is staged in the square of Paphos Medieval Castle on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 September 2026, as the centrepiece of the 24th Pafos Aphrodite Festival. The production is presented by the Armenian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra performing live. Performances start at 7:30pm.
The comic opera follows a village love story between Nemorino and Adina, built around a fake love potion, set to Donizetti's melodies. The castle's stone walls and open-air setting frame the staging, a format the Aphrodite Festival has used for opera in Paphos for over two decades.
