Cirque du Soleil - OVO in Oberhausen

Cirque du Soleil brings its acclaimed production OVO to Oberhausen, a vibrant circus show inspired by the world of insects. Created by director Deborah Colker, the performance explores the movement and energy of a bustling insect colony, with creatures flying, leaping, and crawling across the stage. The score, composed by Berna Ceppas, draws from Brazilian music, adding a lively, rhythmic backdrop to the spectacle.

Attendees can expect a colorful cast of characters including the chaotic Master Flipo, the mysterious Foreigner, and the joyful Ladybug, alongside a troupe of ants, crickets, butterflies, and more. The show features ten acrobatic acts, from foot-juggling ants and a hand-balancing dragonfly to aerial straps and a Russian cradle routine. The set, designed by Gringo Cardia, includes a massive rear wall and glowing "firefly eggs," creating an immersive insect world.

This touring production has been captivating audiences since its 2009 premiere in Montréal, and the Oberhausen stop offers a chance to experience its unique blend of circus arts and theatrical storytelling.
