Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes

The Marathon des Alpes-Maritimes Nice-Cannes is one of France's largest marathons, second only to Paris. Since its debut in 2008, it has drawn over 210,000 participants from nearly 90 nations, with the 2025 edition hosting 22,000 runners, 30% from abroad. The race begins in Nice's Albert I Garden and winds along the Riviera through Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Antibes, and Juan-les-Pins, finishing on Cannes' Promenade de la Croisette in front of the Carlton hotel.

Runners can choose the full 42.195 km marathon or a 2 x 21.1 km relay, introduced in 2013, plus a six-person relay with legs from 3 to 11 km. The course offers stunning coastal views, palm trees, and a "French Riviera art de vivre" atmosphere. The event has held IAAF Bronze Label status and is known for its festive ambiance, with music groups and enthusiastic volunteers along the route.

With a cap of 22,000 runners (15,000 for the marathon), the event often sells out months in advance. It's a popular choice for first-time marathoners—nearly half of participants in 2025 were tackling their first marathon. The combination of a scenic seaside course, international crowd, and well-organized support makes it a standout on the European running calendar.
