Avec une légère intimité: Madeleine Malraux, pianiste

This exhibition, drawn from Céline Malraux's book of the same name, traces the remarkable journey of Madeleine Lioux, a pianist born into music. From the conservatory of Toulouse to the class of Marguerite Long at the Paris Conservatoire at age fourteen, her path was shaped by the great events of the 20th century. The display is enriched with period documents and offers an intimate look at a woman balancing a professional music career with family life.

Visitors can explore the story of a talented musician who navigated the challenges of being a woman in a demanding field, not merely "the wife of." The exhibition is part of the Monte le son 2026 programme by the City of Paris libraries and is labelled for the Cinquantenaire André Malraux by the Ministry of Culture. A special presentation of the book by Céline Malraux and Manon Landowski takes place on December 3 at the library.
