Drill Baby Drill - Khouloud Yassine

Khouloud Yassine, a leading figure on Lebanon's contemporary dance scene, presents *Drill Baby Drill* at Théâtre de la Bastille. The piece takes its title from a Donald Trump campaign slogan and interrogates the performativity of gender and the impact of hypermasculinity on the female body. Through a continuous flow of precise gestures, postures, and hybrid figures, Yassine reveals how militarized, sexual, and sporting codes of power shape our collective imagination.

The choreography builds through accumulation and superimposition of movements, creating a sense of saturation that mirrors our image-saturated reality. The performance pushes these codes of virility to the point of the grotesque, offering a sharp critique of the cold brutality of a world dominated by such structures. This double bill, part of the Saison Méditerranée 2026, also features works by fellow Lebanese choreographer Nivine Kallas, making for a powerful evening of dance.
