FUGACES: Aina Alegre's Flamenco Homage at Chaillot

Choreographer Aina Alegre brings her acclaimed piece *FUGACES* to Chaillot – Théâtre national de la Danse, a free interpretation of the dance of flamenco legend Carmen Amaya. The work gathers a talented team to inscribe the steps of La Amaya into our contemporary era, honoring the bailaora who constantly pushed flamenco's boundaries. Alegre, now at the helm of the Centre chorégraphique de Grenoble, channels Amaya as a "revenant"—a benevolent ghost guarding this creation with wild energy.

The performance weaves together a miniature fanfare, a round dance, and moments of fiesta where dancers subvert typical flamenco footwork and arched poses. A deconstructed Boléro de Ravel and projected images of Carmen Amaya add layers of meaning. *FUGACES* is a distanced homage as much as a great escape, balancing nostalgia with modernity in a show that runs about one hour.
