Tec-tec: A Participatory Tropicalist Concert for Families

Tec-tec is a participatory concert designed for children and their parents, born from a desire to play and celebrate together. Inspired by the tropicalist movement that emerged in Brazil in 1967, the Compagnie Blah Blah Blah has created a lively, free-flowing musical experience. Three musicians from the company are joined by around twenty sound structures designed by Compagnie Toutanios, inviting the audience to manipulate them in quartets—potentially turning eighty attendees into musicians guided by drum machines and samplers.

The event champions openness, diversity, and freedom, aiming to introduce children to a bold fusion of musical cultures and the joy of collective practice. The tropicalist spirit is channeled through the influence of icons like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Gal Costa, who defied Brazil's dictatorship in the late 1960s by blending popular music, rock, and avant-garde. The concert features compositions by Gabriel Fabing, Joël Lattanzio, and Manuel Etienne, who perform on multiple instruments.
