Getting aroundVery walkable but genuinely hilly β expect steep closes and stairs between Old and New Town. Edinburgh Trams run from the airport through the city centre to Newhaven; Lothian Buses cover everywhere else. There's no underground.
Where to stayOld Town β closes, wynds and castle views, the most atmospheric but busiest area; New Town β Georgian townhouses, main shopping streets, a calmer base; Stockbridge β a village-like neighbourhood on the Water of Leith, popular with locals, a short walk from the centre
