Getting aroundThe centre is entirely walkable; the city walls loop takes about an hour and most sights sit within or just outside them. York station is on the East Coast Main Line, about 2 hours from London by direct train, and Leeds Bradford Airport is roughly 45-60 minutes away by car or bus. A car isn't needed for the centre itself.
