Mull Historical Society, the Scottish indie pop project of Colin MacIntyre, brings its deeply personal sound to Southampton. The debut album *Loss*, inspired by the sudden death of MacIntyre's father and his upbringing on the Isle of Mull, features samples from a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry and the waves of Calgary Bay. Tracks like "Barcode Bypass" and "Watching Xanadu" tell stories of small shops threatened by supermarkets and the nostalgia of watching a classic film.
Attendees can expect a set that draws from this acclaimed album, which reached number 43 in the UK charts and was named one of the best 50 albums of 2001 by *Q* magazine. The performance captures the blend of indie pop, personal storytelling, and unique instrumentation that defines Mull Historical Society's work.
