Read full details

The Ford Five Hundred was a full-size sedan produced from 2005 to 2007, designed to rethink the traditional sedan formula with a tall cabin and elevated seating. It featured optional all-wheel drive and a continuously variable transmission, emphasizing safety and interior space.

Styled by George Bucher under J Mays, the Five Hundred shared the D3 platform with the Mercury Montego and Ford Freestyle. Its 203-horsepower engine and understated design drew criticism, and sales fell short of projections, leading to a rebranding as the fifth-generation Taurus for 2008.

Despite its short run, the Five Hundred introduced design cues like the three-bar grille and influenced Ford's crossover strategy. The nameplate continued outside North America, and the model remains a notable chapter in Ford's history.
