This beloved Italian musical comedy, with music by Armando Trovaioli and a book by Pietro Garinei, Sandro Giovannini and Jaja Fiastri, tells the story of Don Silvestro, a priest in a fictional mountain village who receives a call from God to build an ark and repopulate the Earth after a second universal flood. The show blends humour, romance and catchy songs, including the famous "Peccato che sia peccato" and "Concerto per prete e campane".

Attendees can expect a lively, family-friendly performance filled with colourful characters like the mayor, the village fool Totò, and Consolazione, a woman of ill-repute. The plot weaves themes of love, forgiveness and community, all set to Trovaioli's jazz-inflected score. The production features a rotating stage and elaborate wooden scenery, originally costing 250 million lire to stage.

First debuting in 1974, the show was a landmark in Italian theatre, running for six months at Rome's Sistina Theatre—an unprecedented success at the time. It later toured internationally, including London's West End, and continues to be revived, with the most recent edition in 2024 featuring Enzo Garinei as the voice of God.
