Read full details

De Notenkraker was a Dutch political and satirical weekly magazine published between 1907 and 1936. It began as a Sunday supplement to the socialist newspaper Het Volk, featuring cartoons and illustrations that critiqued the monarchy, capitalism, and militarism.

Famous cartoonists like Leendert Jordaan and Albert Hahn Sr. contributed powerful anti-war imagery during World War I. After Hahn's death in 1918, the magazine's quality declined until a new generation of illustrators revived it in the 1930s, including George Van Raemdonck and Albert Funke Küpper.

The magazine ceased publication in July 1936 following Funke Küpper's death. Its legacy endures as a notable example of Dutch satirical journalism.
