Bruno Lyfe

Overview

Bruno Lyfe's first international solo exhibition, "O mar que reza, chora e dança," brings together new works developed during a two-month residency in Lisbon. The show features paintings, interventions on antique engravings, and an installation created specifically for the Reservatório da Patriarcal.

Drawing from his research on Brazilian identity, colonial heritage, peripheral culture, and Black self-esteem, Lyfe explores the historical and symbolic ties between Brazil and Portugal. The subterranean space, marked by the presence of water, frames the sea as a place of crossing, faith, loss, resistance, and celebration.

The exhibition is curated by Manuela Moog and Ricardo Barbosa Vicente, offering a thought-provoking experience in a unique museum setting.
