Lourdes Castro e Ilda David

This exhibition brings together two generations of Portuguese artists, Lourdes Castro and Ilda David, in a sensitive dialogue at Galeria Ratton. Titled "(R)encontro no Azulejo," the project explores the relationship between light and shadow, crossing distinct yet complementary artistic universes. Castro's historical connection to the gallery since its founding in 1987 is honored, while David's vibrant, almost sculptural use of light finds an echo in Castro's subtle play of shadows.

The azulejo becomes a territory of dialogue where memory and contemporaneity intersect, revealing unexpected continuities in Portuguese art. Curated by Ana Maria Viegas and Tiago Montepegado, the exhibition features collective azulejo works and painting. Visitors can expect a thoughtful journey through light, shadow, and the enduring tradition of Portuguese tilework.
