O Portugal de Todd Webb

This exhibition at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is the first dedicated to Todd Webb, a major American photographer of the 20th century. It brings together his photographs of Portugal from the 1970s and 1980s, recently donated to the foundation by the Todd Webb Archive.

Visitors can see around 60 images capturing everyday life in Portugal, alongside smaller selections of Webb's notable work in New York and sub-Saharan Africa. The Africa series, shot in color, was commissioned by the United Nations after independence movements.

Curated by Jorge Calado, the show offers a rare chance to explore Webb's unique perspective on Portugal during a transformative period, complemented by his broader documentary work.
