Visitas à Coleção de Moldes da Calçada Artística Portuguesa

Overview

Step into the world of Lisbon's iconic cobblestone art with guided visits to the unique Collection of Molds for Portuguese Artistic Pavement. Held on the National Day of the Pavement Layer and Portuguese Pavement (July 22), these tours offer a rare behind-the-scenes look at a municipal collection of three thousand original wooden molds, some dating back to the 19th century.

Led by the technical team of the Historic Centre Territorial Intervention Unit, the visits reveal the preservation and inventory project behind these intricate molds, which are still used today to maintain and create the distinctive patterned sidewalks that define Lisbon's streets. Participants will see a wide variety of figurative representations and learn how these tools contribute to the city's cultural heritage.

This is a unique opportunity for culture and history enthusiasts to understand the craftsmanship behind Lisbon's famous calçada. The free guided tours take place on July 22 and 25, with limited spots available, offering an intimate and educational experience in the heart of the city.
