Guided Tours of São Roque Church and Museum

These guided tours offer an in-depth look at one of Lisbon's most extraordinary heritage ensembles. The Church of São Roque, notable for its Mannerist and Baroque architecture, survived the 1755 earthquake almost intact, preserving a rare and valuable collection. Highlights include the Chapel of São João Baptista, one of the richest sets of 18th-century sacred art, commissioned in Rome and installed in Lisbon with great pomp, and currently in the process of being classified as a National Treasure.

The Museum of São Roque, founded in 1905, houses the treasure of the Chapel of São João Baptista, along with 16th-century paintings of São Roque and pieces that reveal the global dimension of the Jesuit mission.
