Madeira Wine Festival

The Madeira Wine Festival is a cultural and ethnographic celebration held during the grape harvest season at the end of summer. It honors the internationally acclaimed fortified wine produced on the archipelago, taking place both in the streets of Funchal and in vineyards and wine cellars across the region.

Attendees can participate in grape harvesting, sample wines, and enjoy a variety of activities. The Madeira Wine Lounge in Praça do Povo offers wine and gastronomy tastings accompanied by regional music. Additionally, the Concerts in the Vineyards series features live performances in winery and sunset settings, with tastings of fortified wines.

The festival also includes the Estreito’s Wine Harvest Festival, which recreates the traditional harvest work and draws thousands of visitors. From cultural events to immersive experiences, this festival provides a deep dive into Madeira’s winemaking heritage.
