Christian McBride, the eleven-time Grammy-winning bassist and bandleader, brings his quintet Ursa Major to the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club. Known for his work with jazz greats and as a host on NPR, McBride leads a group of rising young instrumentalists: saxophonist Nicole Glover, guitarist Ely Perlman, pianist Mike King, and drummer Savannah Harris. The performance promises a blend of original compositions and jazz standards, showcasing McBride's virtuosic bass and the group's cohesive interplay.
The Blue Note, located in New York's West Village, provides an intimate setting with dinner and a full bar. Seating is first come, first served, so arriving early is recommended. The club's table seating is all ages, while the bar area is reserved for those 21 and over. This set offers a rare opportunity to hear McBride's latest ensemble, combining seasoned expertise with fresh talent for an evening of inventive and soulful jazz.
McBride has appeared on more than 400 recordings and leads several groups, including the Grammy-nominated big band. His Ursa Major quintet debuted in recent years, featuring musicians who have performed with Wynton Marsalis and Dee Dee Bridgewater.
