A summer evening at Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro on Frenchmen Street sets the stage for an intimate Happy Hour Concert Series performance by New Orleans singer-songwriter Paul Sanchez. A founding member of the legendary Cowboy Mouth, Sanchez has spent over four decades shaping the city's musical landscape with his blend of rock, folk, and Crescent City soul. His heartfelt lyrics and commanding stage presence have made him a beloved figure in New Orleans music.
For this special show, Sanchez is joined by master pianist Meghan Swartz, creating a stripped-down duo setting that highlights the emotional depth of his songwriting. The concert takes place in the cozy Snug Harbor listening room, where seating is first-come, first-served, encouraging a relaxed and communal atmosphere. After the music, guests can enjoy dinner at the on-site restaurant.
Beyond his stage work, Sanchez is a prolific composer and collaborator, having created musical adaptations like *Nine Lives: The Musical of Cat Stevens* and *The True Story of the Neville Brothers*. He has chronicled New Orleans resilience in the wake of Hurricane Katrina through songs like "Home," featured in the documentary *New Orleans Music in Exile*. His contributions to the city's culture have earned him multiple awards, including OffBeat Magazine's Best of the Beat Songwriter of the Year. Sanchez has released 11 solo albums and 11 with Cowboy Mouth, and his songs have been recorded by artists such as Darius Rucker, Irma Thomas, and Hootie & the Blowfish.
