St. Lucia is the synth-pop project of South African-born musician Jean-Philip Grobler, who writes, produces and performs most of the instrumentation on the band's records, joined on stage and in the studio by his wife and bandmate Patricia Beranek. Raised singing in South Africa's Drakensberg Boys' Choir before relocating internationally, Grobler signed to Nettwerk Records and has released a string of albums since 2013's When the Night, including Matter, Hyperion, Utopia and 2025's two-part Fata Morgana: Dawn and Dusk. Beyond his own catalog, Grobler has remixed tracks for artists including Lady Gaga, Charli XCX and Bleachers' Jack Antonoff, giving him credibility across the wider synth-pop and alternative landscape. St. Lucia's sound blends shimmering '80s-indebted synths with anthemic, danceable hooks, built for big rooms and festival stages alike.
