Root for the hometown Tampa Tarpons as they take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers in a Florida State League clash at George M. Steinbrenner Field. This Minor League Baseball game offers a family-friendly atmosphere at a ballpark designed with echoes of old Yankee Stadium, including identical field dimensions. The Tarpons, the Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have a rich history dating back to 1994 when they were known as the Tampa Yankees. They rebranded in 2018, reviving the name of Tampa's longest-lasting minor league club.
The Steinbrenner Field experience combines professional-grade baseball with an intimate setting. With a capacity of about 11,000, fans enjoy close-up views of the action. Parking is convenient in the adjacent lot, and for larger crowds, a pedestrian bridge connects to Raymond James Stadium's parking area. The Tarpons have won five league championships and have seen future stars like Aaron Judge and Derek Jeter grace their roster.
Beyond the game, the ballpark's design elements pay homage to Yankee Stadium's Bronx heritage. As the Yankees' Single-A affiliate, the Tarpons showcase promising prospects in a venue that blends history with modern comfort.
