Ando San
Ando San, born Brandon Washington, is a Los Angeles-based musician known for a self-described style he calls "prog-hop," blending progressive rock and metal guitar work with hip-hop production and beatmaking. He began making beats after discovering producer J Dilla while simultaneously playing in a progressive metal band, and spent years reconciling the two disciplines before releasing music under the Ando San name.

About Ando San
His sound pairs technical, often eight-string guitar playing on an instrument custom-specified with luthier Jeff Kiesel, with hip-hop-derived rhythms and sampling, drawing on influences ranging from MF DOOM and Madlib to progressive guitarist Tosin Abasi and death metal bands such as Cannibal Corpse. He releases music independently, including through Bandcamp, and singles such as "Thick Neck" (2025) reflect a recent shift toward heavier, guitar-led material.
Ando San has pursued music full-time for roughly seven years, building a following through guitar-focused social media content and coverage in music and guitar press. He has performed support slots on U.S. tours, including dates with the band President in late 2025.
