About Basement
Signed to Run for Cover Records, the band released the debut EP Songs About the Weather in 2010, followed by the albums I Wish I Could Stay Here (2011) and Colourmeinkindness (2012), the latter reaching the Billboard 200. Critics have described their sound as alternative rock, post-hardcore, and emo, with early material carrying pop-punk influences and later work described as "soft grunge."
The band went on hiatus around the release of Colourmeinkindness while frontman Andrew Fisher trained as a teacher, before reuniting in 2014 and releasing the EP Further Sky, followed by the albums Promise Everything (2016) and Beside Myself (2018); they signed to major label Fueled by Ramen in 2017.
After a period of sporadic reunion shows from 2021, Basement officially reunited in 2023 as their older song "Covet" found a new audience on TikTok. Their fifth studio album, Wired, was released in May 2026.
