Blues Traveler are an American rock band formed in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987, beginning as a high school garage band before becoming one of the pioneering acts of jam band culture.

About Blues Traveler
The lineup centers on John Popper (vocals, harmonica), Chan Kinchla (guitars, mandolin) and drummer Brendan Hill, later joined by bassist Tad Kinchla, who replaced founding member Bobby Sheehan after his death in 1999, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. The band founded the H.O.R.D.E. touring festival in 1992, helping establish a national jam-band touring circuit.
Their breakthrough album, Four (1994), sold more than six million copies worldwide and featured the single "Run-Around," which won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and set a record for chart longevity. Their sound blends blues rock, folk rock, alternative rock and southern-rock influences with extended live improvisation.
After being dropped by A&M Records in 2002, the band continued recording independently, releasing Traveler's Blues (2021), nominated for a Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album, and Traveler's Soul (2023). They have performed annual Independence Day shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre since 1994.
