About Cheekface
Cheekface's songs are built around Katz's talk-singing delivery, dry humor, and lyrics that dwell on anxiety and sociopolitical unease, typically packaged into tracks under four minutes. The band gained wider attention following its 2018 single "Dry Heat/Nice Town" and has since released five studio albums, among them Therapy Island (2019), Emphatically No. (2021) — named to Paste's list of the best rock albums of that year — Too Much to Ask (2022), It's Sorted (2024), and Middle Spoon (2025).
The band has cultivated a devoted following that refers to itself as "Cheek Freaks" and describes itself, half-jokingly, as "America's Local Band" — a nod to its cult reputation without a mainstream commercial breakthrough. Cheekface has toured steadily behind each release while remaining independent, keeping production, artwork, and distribution largely in-house through Katz's label.
