About Chicago Fire FC
In its debut season, Chicago Fire won both the MLS Cup and the U.S. Open Cup, an accomplishment often described as a historic first-season double. The club went on to win further U.S. Open Cup titles in 2000, 2003 and 2006, along with the MLS Supporters' Shield in 2003, and competes in MLS's Eastern Conference.
The team played at SeatGeek Stadium in suburban Bridgeview from 2006 to 2019 before returning to downtown Chicago, where it now shares Soldier Field, a 61,500-capacity venue also home to the NFL's Chicago Bears. Businessman Joe Mansueto acquired majority ownership of the club in 2019, and the franchise has since been valued at more than 500 million dollars.
