Derek Nash is a British jazz saxophonist born 28 July 1961 in Stockport, England. He studied electroacoustics at Salford University and worked as a BBC sound engineer from 1982 before becoming a full-time musician in 2002. He leads several ensembles, including the long-running group Sax Appeal, the Derek Nash Acoustic Quartet, Protect the Beat and Picante, and has been a member of the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra since 2004.

About Derek Nash

Nash has performed and recorded with artists including Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart and Tom Jones, and co-leads a project celebrating the music of Stevie Wonder. He won the British Jazz Award for Small Group in 2000 with Sax Appeal, along with Best Jazz CD honours for albums including Joyriding (2012) and Young Lions, Old Tigers (2000). He has held a residency at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club for more than twenty years and also runs Clowns Pocket Recording Studio.
