Dogstar is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1991 by drummer Robert Mailhouse and bassist Keanu Reeves, who met by chance when Mailhouse, wearing a Detroit Red Wings hockey jersey, was asked by the hockey-playing Reeves if he needed a goalie. Guitarist and lead vocalist Bret Domrose joined in 1994, completing the band's long-running lineup.

About Dogstar

Between 1994 and 1999, Dogstar built a following through extensive touring, opening for David Bowie and Bon Jovi. The band released the EP Quattro Formaggi (1996), the Japan-only debut album Our Little Visionary (1997), and its second album, Happy Ending (1999), before disbanding in 2002 following a farewell performance in Japan.

The band's public profile was shaped in large part by Reeves's fame as a film actor, which drew both attention and skepticism toward the music itself. Members continued to jam informally over the years, and the group resumed active songwriting during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020, formally announcing its reunion in 2022.

Dogstar's comeback album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees, released in 2023, was described by critics as a post-grunge, alt-rock record recalling bands like the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox Twenty. The band released a follow-up album, All In Now, in 2026.
