About Gary Numan
His albums Replicas, The Pleasure Principle (both 1979) and Telekon (1980) each reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, and the singles 'Are "Friends" Electric?' and 'Cars' both topped the UK singles chart, with 'Cars' also reaching number nine in the United States. Other well-known songs include 'Complex,' 'We Are Glass' and 'Down in the Park.'
After a commercial decline through the 1980s and 1990s, Numan's standing was restored by increasingly industrial-influenced albums beginning with Sacrifice (1994). Splinter (Songs from a Broken Mind) (2013) became his first UK top-20 album in three decades, and Savage (Songs from a Broken World) (2017) reached number two.
He received the Moog Innovation Award in 2016 and the Ivor Novello Inspiration Award in 2017, and continues to record and tour.
