Girlfriend
Girlfriend is the stage name of Kenya Edwards, an American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer from Mississippi who is based in Memphis, Tennessee. Her music blends soulful R&B with influences including Bob Marley, Luther Vandross, and Chris Brown, favoring atmospheric production paired with confessional, unpolished lyricism that explores the messier edges of relationships rather than idealized love.

About Girlfriend
Edwards released her debut EP, It's Complicated, in spring 2025, followed later that year by the singles "Sticky Situation" and "Deep." She followed the EP with her full-length debut album, Honey Water, in January 2026, produced with contributors including Kenneth "KP" Paige, Malik Ninety Five, and Mike Baretz. The album centers on cycles of attraction and difficult decision-making within relationships, narrated with direct, unromanticized honesty.
Billboard and Complex both named Girlfriend an artist to watch for 2026, and BET named her Amplified Artist of the Month in March of that year. She joined Ella Mai's Do You Still Love Me? tour as a supporting act across North America in 2026, extending her reach to larger audiences in cities including Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.
