Gorillaz
Gorillaz is a British virtual band created in 1998 by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and Tank Girl comic artist Jamie Hewlett, conceived partly as a response to manufactured pop acts of the late 1990s. Its public-facing members are four animated characters designed by Hewlett: vocalist 2-D, bassist Murdoc Niccals, guitarist Noodle, and drummer Russel Hobbs, while Albarn writes and produces the music with a rotating cast of collaborators.

About Gorillaz
The self-titled debut album (2001), led by the single Clint Eastwood, went triple platinum in the UK. Demon Days (2005) went six-times platinum and won a Grammy Award for Feel Good Inc., a collaboration with De La Soul. Later albums, including Plastic Beach (2010) and Humanz (2017), continued the group's genre-blending approach, drawing in guests ranging from Snoop Dogg to Lou Reed.
Live performances evolved from the band appearing hidden behind a screen projecting the animated characters in the 2000s to fully visible backing musicians playing alongside projected visuals from 2010 onward. The group also produced Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez (2020), an episodic web series paired with an album.
Gorillaz marked its 25th anniversary in 2025 and released a ninth studio album, The Mountain, drawing on inspiration from India, ahead of a world tour running from March 2026 into 2027.
