About Haircut 100

Blending new wave with jazz-funk and Brit-funk influences, the group's 1982 debut album Pelican West reached number two on the UK Albums Chart and produced four UK top-10 singles in quick succession: "Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)," "Love Plus One," "Nobody's Fool" and "Fantastic Day." The singles' bright horn arrangements and Heyward's melodic songwriting made the band one of the defining acts of the UK's early-1980s new pop movement, and the group toured internationally at the height of its popularity.

Heyward left the band in January 1983 amid creative tensions and personal stress during sessions for a planned follow-up album, going on to a successful solo career that included the hit "Whistle Down the Wind" and the UK top-10 album North of a Miracle. The remaining members continued briefly under the Haircut 100 name with Marc Fox on lead vocals before the band split in 1984.

Heyward reunited with his former bandmates for a one-off VH1 special in 2004, and the group has toured intermittently with its classic lineup from 2009 onward, working toward a new studio album that would be its first in more than four decades.
