About honestav

His music blends alternative rock, indie rock and hip-hop, drawing on influences including Kurt Cobain, XXXTentacion, Green Day, Blink-182 and Mac Miller. After his father died by suicide in January 2024, Freeman wrote 'I'd Rather Overdose,' a song that spread widely online and charted on Billboard, establishing him as a breakout artist.

Before his music career took off, Freeman worked in marijuana sales and for a moving company; he has spoken publicly about finding his brother's body after a suicide at age fifteen as a formative experience behind his confessional songwriting. He released his debut EP, hara-kiri, in November 2024, followed by a deluxe edition of the record in May 2025 that added further tracks.

Honestav has signed to Rebel Music/gamma and built his live profile by opening for established artists such as Mod Sun and Lovelytheband, alongside festival performances. He released the Take a Daytrip-produced single 'Wasted' in November 2025, continuing to expand beyond the song that first brought him attention.
