About John Kearns
Kearns is the only comedian to have won both major Edinburgh Comedy Awards in consecutive years: his 2013 debut solo show, Sight Gags for Perverts, performed on the free Fringe circuit, won Best Newcomer, the first time a free show had done so, and his 2014 follow-up, Shtick, won the main Best Show award, making him the first and only act to hold both titles.
Known for a surreal, character-driven style performed in a bald cap and ill-fitting false teeth, Kearns has built a body of solo hours exploring melancholy and absurdity beneath comic set pieces. He has appeared on British television panel shows including 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Richard Osman's House of Games and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, was a breakout contestant on series 14 of Taskmaster, and co-hosted the panel show Guessable? from 2020 to 2023.
He continues to tour new stand-up material, including the 2026 UK tour Tilting at Windmills.
