Kane Allen Brown (born October 21, 1993, in Chattanooga, Tennessee) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Raised largely by his mother in Chattanooga and rural Georgia, he grew up on both country and R&B music. He auditioned for The X Factor USA in 2013 but left the show when producers wanted to place him in a boy band, and instead built an audience by posting cover songs on social media; a 2015 rendition of George Strait's "Check Yes or No" drew millions of views and led to a crowdfunded debut EP, Closer, that same year.

About Kane Brown

Brown signed with Sony Music Nashville/RCA Nashville in 2016 and released his self-titled debut album, powered by the single "Used to Love You Sober." His duet with Lauren Alaina, "What Ifs," was certified 8x Platinum. In October 2017 he became the first artist to hold simultaneous number-one songs on all five major Billboard country charts. His second album, Experiment (2018), became his first number-one album on the Billboard 200, and he has since released Different Man (2022) and The High Road (2025).

Brown's music blends mainstream country songwriting with R&B and pop production, giving him crossover reach beyond traditional country radio. He has won three American Music Awards (2018-2020) and was included in Time magazine's Time 100 list in 2021, recognition tied to both his commercial success and his visibility as a biracial artist in a genre historically dominated by white performers.

He continues to record and tour, with recent output including the 2025 collaboration "Miles on It" with Marshmello, extending his pattern of pairing country songwriting with pop and electronic collaborators.
