About Karl Blau

Blau began his solo career in 1996, releasing cassettes on Knw-Yr-Own Records while working at The Business record store in Anacortes during the 1990s. In 2003 he established the subscription-based record service Kelp! Monthly, later renamed KLAPS in 2008, which released 32 issues over its run.

His albums include Beneath Waves (2006), Dance Positive (2007), Introducing Karl Blau (2016), and Out Her Space (2017). He has released music through Knw-Yr-Own, K Records, Marriage Records, and Bella Union, as well as self-released work.

Blau has collaborated with Phil Elverum of the Microphones and Mount Eerie, Laura Veirs, and the band Earth, and has been a member of the Microphones, D+, Brothers Blau, and Your Heart Breaks.
