Lindisfarne are an English folk rock band formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1968, built around singer-songwriter Alan Hull. Their second album, Fog on the Tyne (1971), was the best-selling UK album of 1972, and singles such as 'Lady Eleanor' and 'Meet Me on the Corner' put the band's mandolin-and-harmonica-driven folk sound into the singles charts.

About Lindisfarne

The band split and reformed several times after 1975, and a 1990 duet version of 'Fog on the Tyne' with footballer Paul Gascoigne reached number two in the UK. Lindisfarne have continued performing since reuniting in 2013, built around the same folk-rock songbook.
