Mannie Fresh
Mannie Fresh is an American record producer and rapper, born Byron Otto Thomas on March 20, 1969, in the 7th Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. He began working with Cash Money Records in 1991 as the label's sole in-house producer, shaping the sound of its roster through the 1990s and becoming one of the most prolific producers in Southern hip-hop.

About Mannie Fresh
Thomas received production credits on nearly the entirety of Cash Money's output between 1998 and his departure in 2004, work that yielded seventeen gold-or-higher certified songs and nineteen entries on the Billboard Hot 100. He produced for label acts including the Hot Boys and their individual solo projects, as well as Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, and Turk, helping define the label's bounce-influenced, synthesizer-driven production style.
Alongside label co-founder Bryan "Birdman" Williams, Thomas formed the duo Big Tymers, releasing five albums that brought him wider recognition as a performer in addition to his production work. His solo debut, The Mind of Mannie Fresh, arrived in 2004, led by the single "Real Big." He departed Cash Money Records in 2005 over financial disagreements and subsequently joined Def Jam South.
He released a second solo album, Return of the Ballin', in 2009, and has continued working as a producer and DJ in the years since. Thomas has been active in music since 1984, and his ongoing DJ work earned him Best DJ honors in 2016 and again in 2023, decades after his production work first defined Cash Money Records' sound.
