About Nurse John

The videos found a large online audience, and Dela Cruz left nursing after two years of pandemic-era burnout to pursue comedy full-time, relocating to Los Angeles in 2024. Despite having no prior stand-up experience, he moved from club sets to headlining theaters within a few years.

His stand-up material, built around the Short Staffed tour, expanded from healthcare-worker stories to material about service and customer-facing jobs more broadly, and has taken him through Canada, the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines. He has also appeared in Netflix Is a Joke and Just for Laughs showcases and hosts the comedy podcast I Beg Your Pardon.

Forbes placed him among its Top Creators of 2026, citing an online following in the millions built from his original nurse-persona videos.
