Reverend & the Makers
Reverend and the Makers are an English band formed in late 2002 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, led by singer Jon McClure, nicknamed "the Reverend." The original lineup included Ed Cosens on bass, Dave Sanderson on guitar, Joe Moskow on keyboards, drummer Richy Westley, and vocalist Laura Manuel, with occasional trombone contributions from Simon Strafford. The band's sound mixes indie rock, dance-rock, and electronica with elements of ska revival, drawing partly on Manchester's spoken-word and performance-poetry scene.

About Reverend & the Makers
The band's debut album, The State of Things (2007), produced a UK top 10 single and established the group within Britain's mid-2000s indie scene. Its follow-up, A French Kiss in the Chaos (2009), led to the band supporting Oasis on a major arena tour. After a period without major chart success, Heatwave in the Cold North (2023) became the band's first UK top 10 album in sixteen years, reaching number 6.
Across two decades, Reverend and the Makers have also supported the Red Hot Chili Peppers and performed at major outdoor festivals, building a large fanbase partly through direct, unconventional fan engagement. The band's lineup has changed over time, with founding members departing and returning across different eras, while McClure has remained its constant frontman and principal songwriter throughout.
The current lineup includes Jon McClure, Laura McClure, Antonia Pooles, Tom Dibb, and Adam Crofts. In November 2024, the band released the charity single "Late Night Phone Call" in support of the Samaritans, and its eighth studio album, Is This How Happiness Feels?, is scheduled for release in 2026.
