About RuPaul's Drag Race
Each episode combines mini and maxi challenges spanning comedy, acting, singing, and design with themed runway presentations, ending in a Lip Sync for Your Life between the two lowest-scoring contestants to decide who is eliminated. The franchise has won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program four years running, and RuPaul received eight consecutive Emmy Awards for Outstanding Host between 2016 and 2023.
The series moved from Logo TV to VH1 for its ninth season and to MTV beginning with its fifteenth, growing from a niche cable program into a franchise with local editions produced in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries. Companion programming includes Untucked, which follows contestants backstage, and All Stars, which brings back competitors from earlier seasons. Cast members also headline a long-running concert residency at the Flamingo in Las Vegas that has featured performers from the American series and its international counterparts since 2020.
As of 2026, the flagship American series has aired 18 seasons. Alumni regularly perform in live stage shows and touring engagements outside the televised format, extending the franchise well beyond broadcast television.
