Seattle Sounders FC is a professional soccer club based in Seattle, Washington, competing in the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began MLS play in 2009 as an expansion side, reviving the Sounders name carried by earlier Seattle clubs dating back to 1974.

About Seattle Sounders FC
The team plays home matches at Lumen Field in downtown Seattle, where capacity for most matches runs above 37,000, among the largest average attendances in MLS. Ownership and front-office continuity through the club's first two decades helped establish Seattle as one of the league's flagship markets.
On the field, the Sounders have won two MLS Cup titles, in 2016 and 2019, along with the 2014 Supporters' Shield for the league's best regular-season record and four U.S. Open Cup championships. In 2022 the club became the first MLS team to win the modern CONCACAF Champions League, and it added a Leagues Cup title in 2025.
The Sounders' rivalry with fellow Cascadia clubs Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps ranks among the most prominent supporter cultures in North American soccer, reinforced by a fan base carried over from the club's earlier North American Soccer League and USL incarnations.
