About Skillet
The band's sound has shifted from a grunge-influenced debut toward a heavier blend of Christian metal, hard rock, and symphonic and industrial elements. Albums including Comatose (2006) and Awake (2009) earned Grammy nominations for Best Rock Gospel Album, and singles "Monster," "Hero," and "Awake and Alive" have each been certified multi-platinum by the RIAA.
Skillet built its audience largely through a relentless touring schedule, regularly ranking among the hardest-working acts on the road, which helped its albums Comatose and Awake reach Platinum and Double Platinum certification respectively.
The band has sustained a recording and performing career of more than 25 years, continuing to release new material while John Cooper anchors its songwriting and stage presence.
