About Social Distortion
The band's sound combines punk rock with cowpunk, roots rock, and blues and country influences, a blend that became more pronounced as the band matured beyond its hardcore beginnings. Social Distortion's 1990 self-titled album brought the band mainstream recognition and achieved gold certification, and the band has sold more than three million albums worldwide over its career.
Later releases include Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell (1992) and Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes (2011). The current lineup, featuring guitarist Jonny Wickersham, bassist Brent Harding, and drummer David Hidalgo Jr. alongside Ness, has remained unchanged since 2010, one of the more stable configurations in the band's history.
In May 2026, Social Distortion released Born to Kill, its first studio album in fifteen years, arriving nearly five decades after the band's formation and extending its run as one of the most influential acts to emerge from the American punk scene.
